BETTER PROCESS FOR THE PEOPLE
Priorities
BETTER PROCESS
Fiscal responsibility and accountability aren’t partisan values—they are fundamental expectations every taxpayer shares. Strong financial stewardship in the Treasurer’s Office is essential to delivering reliable, high-quality services for all residents.

After nearly 16 years in office, the current DuPage County Treasurer is seeking another four-year term that ensures status quo. As a member of the DuPage County Board, I have consistently scrutinized budgets, asked tough questions, and worked to ensure taxpayer dollars are managed wisely.

I bring the energy, discipline, and focus to offer fresh eyes, identify inefficiencies, and modernize operations. As Treasurer, I will strengthen financial practices and update processes so DuPage County government delivers exceptional service—today and well into the future.
Improve Efficiency
I am committed to tackling systemic issues, modernizing operations and improving services for taxpayers.
Although the office has implemented a new software system to replace the outdated mainframe tax system, technical and operational issues continue to affect performance. System errors have required continual troubleshooting, adjustments, and coordination with the program vendor and the DuPage County IT Department. As your next Treasurer, I will work closely with our IT Department to identify improvements we can make in-house, and coordinate directly with the program vendor so that system problems are resolved quickly and efficiently. Smoother operations mean a better experience for all taxpayers.
A critical example of inefficiency is the continued issue of duplicate tax payments, which resulted in $4 million in overpayments last year – funds that must be returned to taxpayers. Effectively addressing this problem will immediately reduce administrative burden and safeguard taxpayer dollars. This is how we make the office work for taxpayers.
Upgrade User-Friendly Features
I am committed to modernizing the Treasurer’s Office by upgrading online services so property tax information and payment options are clear, intuitive, and accessible to every resident.
While the Treasurer’s website contains a great deal of information, its current design is difficult to navigate and time-consuming to use. Residents deserve faster, clearer access to the tools and answers they need. I will evaluate best-in-class county treasurer websites, review performance data, and redesign DuPage County’s site to improve usability, clarity, and efficiency.
The Treasurer’s Office offers multiple ways to pay property taxes, yet many residents still endure long lines in person—even though the online payment system is secure, convenient, and efficient. I will improve the online payment portal’s user experience, clearly explain all payment options, and encourage greater use of online services. These improvements will save time, reduce frustration, and make managing property taxes easier for everyone in DuPage County.
FOR THE PEOPLE
Beyond its statutory responsibilities, the Treasurer’s Office has the opportunity to do far more to support the people of DuPage County by making government work better in their everyday lives. When services are clear, accessible, and efficient, residents save time, reduce stress, and gain peace of mind—knowing their tax dollars are being managed responsibly and with care.
Expand Outreach
I am committed to taking the Treasurer’s Office into the community so residents receive the benefits they are entitled to.

Many DuPage County residents qualify for valuable property tax exemptions—such as the Senior Citizens Homestead Exemption, the Senior Citizen Assessment Freeze, and the Returning Veteran’s Homestead Exemption—yet too many miss out simply because they are unaware these programs exist. While this information is available online, it is not reaching everyone who needs it.

As Treasurer, I will move the office beyond the counter and into neighborhoods across DuPage County. I will attend community events, partner with local organizations, and host informational sessions throughout our municipalities to ensure residents understand the exemptions and programs available to them. When people have clear information, they are better able to afford their homes and remain rooted in their communities.

I will also strengthen digital outreach by using social media and modern communication tools to make property tax information clear, accessible, and easy to understand. As a new generation of homeowners comes of age, the Treasurer’s Office must meet residents where they are—both in person and online.

My goal is simple: ensure every eligible resident can access these resources, not just those who already know where to look.
Advocate for Better Public Policy
I am committed to working with county and state leaders to advance policies that help working families and senior citizens remain in their homes and help first-time homebuyers achieve the dream of homeownership.

Each year, DuPage County’s interests are represented in Springfield. As Treasurer, I will ensure the office plays an active role in shaping public policy by listening to residents and collaborating with the DuPage County Board and policy experts on the issues that matter most to taxpayers.

For example, recent changes in state law demonstrate how thoughtful policy can make a real difference. Governor Pritzker’s enactment of Senate Bill 642 raises the income threshold for the Senior Citizen Assessment Freeze, allowing more seniors to qualify for relief and remain in their homes and communities here in DuPage County.

With my background in law and public policy, and years of advocating for low-income families, senior citizens, and immigrants, I will continue to push for practical, responsible solutions that protect homeownership. As Treasurer, I will work directly with county and state leaders to support working families and aging residents, ensuring the promise of homeownership remains within reach now and in the future.
