Fiscal Responsibility & Accountability

back

I’m running to ethically manage taxpayer dollars and ensure transparency of DuPage’s $474 million budget

I come from a nonprofit background, and there is a succinct saying: “No money, no mission.” It’s the same for government -- DuPage County government can’t fulfill its mission of serving its residents without the sound management of taxpayer money.

Although only three cents of a taxpayer’s dollar goes to county administration and services, the County Board has a budget of over $474 million dollars to spend and save wisely. In more recent years, the DuPage County Board created the ACT Initiative (Accountability, Consolidation, Transparency) to improve efficiency, reduce duplication and encourage resource sharing across County government and its independently administered agencies. Already the County Board has made significant changes to reduce taxpayer burden.

Fiscal responsibility and accountability are not partisan or political principles. A balanced budget and a high credit rating for DuPage County are critical for the county to continue to support its residents, improve people’s lives, and protect our future. I am committed to ethically managing taxpayer money, cutting out waste and inefficiency, and seeking transparency, so that DuPage can do more for its residents.
